'A McQueen royal wedding dress would be a bold and brilliant decision'
It would be a coup for British fashion if Kate Middleton has chosen Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen to design her wedding dress, says Hilary Alexander.
If the leaked story is true, that Kate Middleton has indeed entrusted the Alexander McQueen label, designed by Sarah Burton, with the creation of her royal wedding dress, it is a bold and brilliant decision - not just for British fashion, but for the industry worldwide.
Hats Off to Fashion
If there’s one social event you can’t afford to dress down for it’s the Dubai World Cup, and a hat is a failsafe way to add impact to any outfit – in fact, it’s essential for any woman wanting to enter this year’s Jaguar Style Stakes Best Dressed competition.
On the high street, Accessorize, Debenhams, Coast and M&S are all stocking headpieces, and big-budget options can be found at Oasis Fashions (Wafi, Dubai), Bloomingdale’s (The Dubai Mall, Dubai), Boutique 1 (Mall of the Emirates, JBR and Mirdiff City Centre, Dubai) , and S*uce (The Dubai Mall and Village Mall, Dubai, and Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi). But the region’s most sought-after head gear will be found at the Burjuman International Millinery Exhibition.
In its 10th year, the exhibition (think: huge posh designer hat market) is a one-stop-shop for headwear. Whether it’s a simple fascinator, a lavish headpiece or a classic race-day hat you’re after, you’re sure to find it here. Better yet, at selected times the Grazia magazine team will be on hand to help with styling!
